Primula, also known as primrose, has showy, multicolor blooms in a wide range of colors and often a different colored center. The pretty pale to dark green foliage has a crinkle-like texture. It grows in low mounds and blooms in early to late spring. Primula needs shade or partial shade and moist, organically rich, well-drained soil. It is pretty in shady cottage gardens and also beautiful as an indoor plant, bringing a cheery touch of spring inside. Plant these colorful flowers grouped together in garden beds, or combine them with other annuals and perennials for a beautiful mix of seasonal color. For healthy plants that will bloom all season, water until plants are established. Then simply water as needed.
